La batucada, c’est avant tout du plaisir et de l’énergie. Les percussions sont constituées d’un instrumentarium riche allant de la caisse claire (caixa) aux tamborims en passant par les surdos (sorte de grosses caisses). Les batucadas sont les groupes de percussionnistes qui défilent durant le carnaval de Rio.
C’est une musique de tradition orale, il n’y a donc pas de partition, pas de solfège.
